You can download further languages from www.phpbb.com, and add them before installing or later.
You should now got to /install/app.php/update which will display a warning: No valid update directory was found, please make sure you uploaded the relevant files. Beneath that warning you will see a radio button Update database only, just click Submit. Depending on your previous version this will make a number of database changes. You may receive FAILURES during this procedure. They should not be a cause for concern unless you see an actual ERROR, in which case the script will stop (in this case you should seek help via our forums or bug tracker). If you have shell access to your server, you may wish to update via the command line interface. From your board's root, execute the following command: php bin/phpbbcli.php --safe-mode db:migrate.
This has been a longer and fairly complicated post, but there are very few tutorials for this around, so I thought it was worth writing one. I hope you find it useful if you ever find yourself needing to archive a phpBB forum.
Extensions downloaded from the Customisation Database have their own support forums. To find support for extensions downloaded elsewhere, you should seek support from the author or forum where it was downloaded.

How to upgrade your phpBB 2 forum to the new branch of the forum software phpBB 3 you can find in this tutorial. The instructions below refer to upgrading from one version of the phpBB 2 to another phpBB 2 release. If you are currently using a stable release of phpBB 2, updating to the newest version is straightforward. You would have downloaded one of three packages and your choice determines what you need to do. Before the upgrade we heavily recommend that you do a full backup of your database and existing phpBB2 source files! Please find detailed instructions how to backup your phpBB system here.
Changes introduced in 2.0.4 may increase the size of your database, more specifically the search_wordmatch table. There are other changes in that release which are designed to reduce the database size. However these additional changes may not apply to all types of forum (particularly non-English boards). For the sake of this tutorial we will assure that you are upgrading from 2.0.21 to 2.0.22 phpBB.
Download the changed files only package (phpBB-2.0.22-files.tar.gz in this example) from This package contains a number of archives, each containing the files changed from a given release to the latest version. You should select the appropriate archive for your current version, e.g. if you currently have 2.0.21 you should select the phpBB-2.0.21_to_2.0.22.zip/tar.gz file. Please, exctract the archive to your local computer. Then upload the files to your hosting account. More information on how to upload your files via FTP can be found here. The directory structure has been preserved enabling you (if you wish) to simply upload the contents of the archive to the appropriate location on your server, i.e. simply overwrite the existing files with the new versions. Do not forget that if you have installed any Mods these files will overwrite the originals possibly destroying them in the process. You will need to re-add Mods to any affected file before uploading. So lets say that your forum is installed in the forum folder and your domain name is yourdomain.comYou should upload all the files in your public_html/forum folder and overwrite the existing files. As for the other upgrade procedures you should run the install/update_to_latest.php after you have finished updating the files. This will update your database schema and increment the version number. Once the update_to_latest.php has completed you MUST proceed to the Administration General Configuration panel and check all the values in General Configuration. Please, feel free to contact us if you have any questions or recommendations about this tutorial .
Forums or message boards have been around as a medium for discussion and posting information since the dawn of the Internet. They usually have a hierarchical organization of forums and sub-forums, each with threads of discussion or topics.Forums typically have "moderators" who interface with users of a forum or sub-forum and "administrators" with privileges to manage the technical details of the site. Forum features include emoticon symbol support, polls, direct forum member communication, display of forum stats, user profiles, media support (videos, images, etc), word censoring, bot detection, etc.One of the favored forum software platforms by both by users and by number of instalations is is PhpBB, an Open Source, PHP based forum that this tutorial seeks to detail its installation and configuration.

In this tutorial we'll upgrade phpBB3 using automatic update package. With this method only what is needed is updated and no modifications are overwritten. As the name suggests the method is automatic and is performed from your forum's administration panel.
Before you start the update process you should backup the phpBB3 files and the relevant database in case something goes wrong during the upgrade. To backup the phpBB3 files from your hosting account you can use an FTP client (e.g. FileZilla). Just download the phpBB3 files to your local computer. If you need help with configuring a particular FTP client read the respective FTP tutorial.
The first thing you have to do is to go to the phpBB3 downloads page and download the automatic update package corresponding to your current version. In our case it's phpbb-3.0.7-PL1_to_3.0.9 update package. There is also a link to the downloads section of the official phpBB3 site on the System tab page of your site's administration panel.
Step 5: In the same overall_header.html file add your html code directly below the body tag and above the existing phpbb code. If your id's happen to be the same as the phpBB id's you will have to change one of the names - either in your code or phpbb's. This will wrap your top half of your site around the phpBB forum.
Only a running phpBB3 forum and Personal Data MOD are required. A detailed installation guide for forum providers is included in the download package. Forum users get displayed Personal Data MOD on top of the forum (see Figure 1). On the left side, a user is reminded about personal data from her/his profile and its visibility. The user is also informed about additional information which is automatically transmitted to the forum provider when visiting the forum. On the right side, a user is notified about the visibility of her/his latest actions and she/he also learns that the forum does not "forget" old actions, however everything is logged and can be looked up even after a longer time period.

This first tutorial explains how to install Sunflow, creating a batch script for convenient launching and how to install the JDK to get the best performance possible. Thanks to Artur Brinkmann for writing this up. Please drop us a note on the forums if you find any errors or have any suggestions that could improve the tutorial.
I know documentation/tutorials are still lacking. Please be patient as this will be one of the main focuses of the next release. If you are willing to contribute anything in this area, your help will be most welcome. In the meantime, enjoy the new release and please share your renders with us on the forum! 2b1af7f3a8
