The VAVA is a collection of royalty-free audio and video files for teachers to use in their own creative exercises. We have also developed a small number of sample exercises that utilize material from the VAVA. The LCTL Project encourages teachers of all LCTLs to cooperate in developing new VAVA exercises using audio or video materials. Individual exercises might be very simple listening practice, or they might be more complex, integrating sounds, video clips into reading, writing, speaking and listening activities for students. The VAVA currently contains audio for the following languages: Arabic (Tunisa), Chinese (Mainland and Taiwan), Hebrew, Norwegian, Polish.

The VAVA is part of a larger package of over 100 exercises for teaching key languages including Chinese (Taiwanese), Chinese (Mainland), German, Irish (Gaeilge), Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese. All exercises are available for download from our website: http://www.lctl.org/exercises/default.html
You can also do a download and unzip the zip file. To use it, you will have to import the audio and video files into your own LCTL. For most LCTLs, the VAVA files are simply audio and video files. For other LCTLs, you will need to import the VAVA into your LCTL using the tools that the LCTL development team has provided.
For example, here is the directory structure for an exercise for the LCTL Chinese (Ming) script. This is the only directory containing LCTL content for the Chinese alphabet. You can see a set of links to the audio files included in the LCTL Project.
If you are a producer of audio, video or text files for your own teaching resources, or if you have ideas on how we could use VAVA materials in our classes, please contact us via mail@lctl.org.uk . 827ec27edc
